Instead of the two day trip in the Mountains, you could head out of Mendoza and drive it straight in 6 or 7 hours depending on the border crossing line.

The only problem, Santiago is a real snoozer of a town from what we have heard from other travelers.

I was there for two days on business in the mid 90s. It didn't seem so bad to me. Also, it is very expensive.Longhorn Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14092022293080936270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6149143459060182122.post-39655199890985384902008-02-14T01:39:00.000-02:002008-02-14T01:39:00.000-02:00Howdy, I'm Roxanne from Richardson, TX and I'll be...Howdy, I'm Roxanne from Richardson, TX and I'll be studying in BA starting in May. I stumbled upon your blog and have been reading it for a little while but never found a reason to comment until now.

I have no idea how you kept so calm in such a frustrating situation but I'm really glad to have read this because I was considering going to Chile after I completed my studies at UBA and now I know what not to do.

I'm glad you and your family made it back safely! - RoxanneRoxannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03209909540095471678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6149143459060182122.post-68244873696861695192008-02-13T12:03:00.000-02:002008-02-13T12:03:00.000-02:00Man, you can't say you are not having a blast here...Man, you can't say you are not having a blast here, with plenty of fun bureaucracy.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08877431512093821309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6149143459060182122.post-64335216553049681582008-02-13T12:00:00.000-02:002008-02-13T12:00:00.000-02:00This comment has been removed by the author.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08877431512093821309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6149143459060182122.post-9904048812155859232008-02-13T09:36:00.000-02:002008-02-13T09:36:00.000-02:00What a nightmare...but it was really hysterical re...What a nightmare...but it was really hysterical reading while sitting on my couch here in BA. I apologize for taking pleasure in your pain. You are so lucky to have such an understanding family.

What sort of place are you staying in in Mendoza? Did you rent the car for the duration of your trip or just for day trips?

Best,
TomUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03893355042233902846noreply@blogger.com
